Garba vs. Dandiya Raas: What's the Difference?

People use "Garba" and "dandiya raas" interchangeably, but they're two different dances that share a night.

Garba

Danced with the hands and body — claps and graceful turns — typically performed before the aarti, in a circle around the garbo lamp.

Dandiya raas

Danced with a pair of decorated sticks (dandiya), struck in patterns with partners, usually after the aarti and faster in energy.

One night, both

Most events flow from one into the other. Rameelo has a fuller Garba vs. Dandiya explainer; find a night that features both on Rameelo.
