What to Wear to Garba: A Chaniya Choli & Kediyu Guide
Dress for the twirl, the heat, and the seven-hour night.
The first thing you see at a Garba is motion — a hundred skirts opening on the turn. Dressing for it is part practicality, part joy.
For her: the chaniya choli
A three-piece of flared skirt (chaniya), fitted blouse (choli), and dupatta. Look for a skirt with real flare for the twirl, and breathable cotton over heavy synthetics for a long night.
For him: the kediyu
A gathered, flared upper (kediyu) with kafni pajama and a bandhani scarf. Comfort and movement matter more than bling.
Buy smart
Check the reverse of embroidery — hand work is slightly irregular, and those imperfections are the point. For more, see Rameelo's Chaniya Choli & Kediyu style guide.
